Café Het IJ called for renewal without polishing away its history. Following demolition and structural reorganisation, we rearranged the bar and seating areas so the space works better while retaining its familiar hospitality character.

The kitchen and sanitary facilities were fully renewed and connected to new plumbing and building services. Electrical systems and lighting were also rebuilt for the intensity, circulation and atmosphere of everyday café use.

With new floors, adapted walls and ceilings and complete finishing, we reunited technical performance and appearance. The café remains recognisable, yet functions as a contemporary and robust hospitality venue.
